PTO Hours to Days Converter

Your PTO balance is almost always shown in hours, but you think about time off in days. This free converter does the math both ways — just enter a number and set your workday length. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

10 days
80 hours ÷ 8 hours per day
or convert the other way
40 hours
5 days × 8 hours per day

How to Convert PTO Hours to Days

The formula is simple: divide your PTO hours by the number of hours in your workday.

  • Hours to days: PTO hours ÷ hours per day. Example: 80 ÷ 8 = 10 days.
  • Days to hours: PTO days × hours per day. Example: 5 × 8 = 40 hours.

Most full-time US jobs use an 8-hour workday, but if you work four 10-hour days or part-time shifts, change the "hours per workday" field to match. A 10-hour workday means 80 hours of PTO is only 8 days, not 10.
