3. Local Storage

When you use PTO Calculator, your settings are saved to your browser's localStorage under the key pto-config. This includes inputs like your current balance, accrual rate, pay period, floating-days-first preference, carryover cap, and theme preference.

This data:

• Is stored only on your device — it never leaves your browser.
• Is not accessible to us, Google, or any third party.
• Is not encrypted on your device; anyone with access to your device and browser profile can read it. Treat it the same as any other browser-saved data.
• Can be deleted at any time by going to your browser's settings → Privacy → Clear site data for ptocalculators.com.

PTO balances and vacation entries you log during a session are not persisted to local storage — they are cleared when you close or refresh the page.

4. Cookies

We do not set any first-party cookies on ptocalculators.com. We use localStorage rather than cookies for saving your settings.

The Service does not display third-party advertisements or use third-party trackers.

5. Third-Party Links

This Privacy Policy applies only to ptocalculators.com. If you follow a link to an external website — including links in this policy — that site's own privacy policy governs how your data is handled. We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the privacy practices of any third-party sites.

6. Log Data & Hosting

PTO Calculator is hosted as a static site. Our hosting infrastructure may automatically record standard server access logs when your browser requests files from our servers. These logs typically include:

• Your IP address (may be anonymized or truncated by the host)
• Browser user-agent string
• Pages or files requested
• Date and time of the request
• HTTP response code

We do not actively access, store, or analyze these server logs. They are retained by the hosting provider per their own data retention policies. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

7. Children's Privacy

PTO Calculator is intended for adults who receive employment-based paid time off. The Service is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect information from, children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). The PTO Calculator website is served over HTTPS, which encrypts data in transit between your browser and our servers. Because all user data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us, the attack surface for a server-side data breach is essentially zero.

Your browser's local storage is protected by the same-origin policy, meaning only code running on ptocalculators.com can read or write the pto-config key.

That said, no method of data storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data stored on your device if it is compromised by malware, unauthorized physical access, or other factors outside our control.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may add a more prominent notice.
